Keep it alive . . . Sayonara !!!

Sayonara Marks PC

Believe me or not, I am just crying and writing this post! I'm too much upset mentally. Cause I'm leaving my home city. And moving to a new city with my first job. You may think that, I'm upset because I'm leaving my family. You're 30% correct!

Only few days ago, I published a post on the Story behind Marks PC Solution. In that post I wrote almost everything about my site. My success, failure, plans, hopes etc. were discussed there. But now this is a great shock for me.

More than a year ago, I applied for a post on Uttara Bank Ltd. upon my father's request. We though, my posting will be within Dhaka. But as per the decision of Management of the Bank, nobody was posted in his home city. So I'm moving to Khulna.

It has been less than a week since I got AdSense again. And AdSense demands fresh and unique contents. Now I'm in doubt whether I will be able to write on my site. I don't know how much opportunity I will get there to run my blog.

I have no PC there. I have only a Symphony W20 phone with me. By which I can at best reply to the comments. That's why I am very upset.

I have to leave my-

  • My Desktop PC (Essential for blog writing)
  • Zoom Ultra Net Connection
  • My Family Members
  • Others . . .

I spend a major portion of my free time on Marks PC Solution. And now I can't imagine how will I spend my free time. I can't think of it. I've to survive for sure.

Dear visitors, don't leave my site - Stay in touch. I promise I will be back. If my job place doesn't change within 06 months, I will leave the job. My journey will start tonight. Can't type anymore. I have to prepare now.

Keep it alive! Sayonara . . . L

Update

I said- "I will be back within 3 or 4 months. Otherwise I will leave this job."

I've kept my words. I've managed my transfer within less than 2 months! Now I'm in my home. As well as with my blog and visitors!

AdSense - Celebrating 10 Years of Success!

Celebration of One Decade of AdSense!

It's been a decade since Google AdSense started its operation. It has been a trusted name both for the publishers and the advertisers. Because AdSense provides a free, flexible and reliable earning source to the publishers. With the help of AdSense, you can monetize your web contents. You can earn through your websites, blogs or forums.

AdSense is helping the advertisers too. It has helped more than two million partners grow their business during the last 10 years! Google publishes ads through numerous blogs, websites, forums, mobile sites across the world. And thus it is possible for the advertisers to reach every corner of the world.

As a part of the celebration, AdSense shares 10 tips for 10 years with the audience. Here I'm just sharing those tips with you in brief. Or you can simply follow the link above to get the PDF file.

  • Create Great Content: Google likes unique and fresh contents. Sites with useful, unique and fresh contents are easily get indexed by the search engines. And that's why, one of the key to success in AdSense is creating great contents. You should also refresh your old posts/ articles to keep them alive. And never try to copy from others. This is really a bad idea. Read more- Post writing guidelines for bloggers . . .

  • Serve both Text & Image Ads: You should use both types of ads. Never choose only image ads or only text ads. Choose both of them. If you're not serving image ads to load your site faster, you're losing some revenues.

  • Think Multi-Channel: Not only focus on the desktop version of your site. Make sure that your mobile site also provides a good experience. Because a large number of people are viewing web through mobile phones. And within few years, most of the people will be surfing the net using their mobile phones.

  • Experiment, Research & Test: You should think about the optimum sizes and styles of the ads. You should research which ads gives you more revenue. You can find details from your AdSense Account. Ad sizes 300x250, 336x280, 728x90 and 160x600 are the most popular formats among the advertisers.

  • Track your Success: You should track your success- whether you're on the track or not. You must be aware of the reports of your AdSense control panel. You should know how to use those information. Spend a little time to know how to use the reports generated by your AdSense control panel.

  • Control the Appearance of the Ads: By default, ads of all categories are allowed on your site. Anytime, you can allow or block a particular ad category. If irrelevant ads appear on your site, you should block them. For example, Marks PC Solution is related to technology. Here the ads maybe to related hardware, software, antivirus etc. If anything like gambling, politics, drugs appear in my site, I must block them as soon as possible.

  • Follow the Personalized Tips: Never miss the tips which are customized for you. You may remember while creating AdSense account there was an option- Send Customized Tips. If you marked that option you will get personalized tips from AdSense team. These tips could be very useful for the success.

  • Connect with Audience: Connecting with audience is very important to get new and to retain existing visitors. Create a Google + Page for your site. Add Google + gadget on your site. Also create a profile/ page of your site on Facebook, Twitter and on other social networking sites.

  • Connect with Other Publishers: You must consult with other publishers to know the secret to success. You can join the community "Learn with Google for Publishers" on Google+.

  • Keep your Site Complied with AdSense Policy: Your site must be complied with the AdSense policies. You must follow their rules while developing or creating a site. Otherwise you may not get your account approved. Or it maybe banned at any time. And if you get banned once, it will be really challenging for you to get it back.

Protect your Documents, Workbooks & Presentations by Password !!

Protect your Documents, Workbooks and Presetations by Password

If  you're a regular visitor of Marks PC Solution you should notice, we've published lots of tutorials on Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and other software. We've also published many tutorials and tips regarding security issues. You can find those tips by using the search box. Or you can search by categories: Tips n Tricks, Tutorials, Microsoft, Windows, Security etc.  Today, I would like to share another tips on security.

Many of you might be familiar with the password protection system of Microsoft Office. If you're working with highly confidential documents, workbooks and presentations (ie. Exam Questions, Online Account Information, Personal Information, Other Secret files),  then this is a good idea to encrypt those files by password.

But if you are not acquainted with the password protection system you should go through the whole post. You should know, the different versions of MS Office keeps the password option differently. You will not find it similar in Office 2003, 2007 and 2010. That could be difficult for you to find the password option. That's why I'm gonna discuss about all versions. :)

Note: The procedure is very similar in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Setting Password in MS Office Documents

Office XP and 2003:

These two versions are almost similar. All the options and tools are located at the same place. Maybe they are different just by color! Let's start -

Open MS Office Document (Word/ Excel/ PowerPoint) > Go to Tools Menu > Select Options > Hit on the Security Tab > Type your Password on Password to Open Box > Hit OK > Save the Document.

Now whenever you will open the document, first you have to enter the password. Then you will be able to access the file.

I apologize for not sharing any image. I don't use 2003 anymore. I have been using Office 2010 for last two years. But this is very easy. You will have no problem to set password in Office 2003. Upgrade to Office 2010 or 2013 to enjoy exiting features!

Office 2007:

You know Office 2007 brings a dramatic change in the interface. Its ribbon interface is absolutely different from Office 2003 or XP. But Office 2010 and 2007 are almost similar except small changes in few options. Okay start -

Open any of the Office Programs (Word, Excel or PowerPoint) > Now hit on the Office button from the top left corner > Choose Prepare and then Select Encrypt Document > A small Password box will appear > Type the Password > Hit OK > and then Confirm it > Save the Document.

Look at the image below:

Office 2010:

Though Office 2007 and 2010 are very similar, but there are some significant changes in some of the options. A major change is the disappearance of the Office button. Instead of Office button, you will see the File button in 2010. See how to do -

Open either Word, Excel or PowerPoint file > Click on the File button from the upper-left corner > Choose Info > Hit on the Protect Document from Permission section > Choose Encrypt with Password > Type your desired Password in the box and hit OK > Type again to confirm it > OK > Save the Document.

You can take help of the image below:

Note: If you don't save the document after setting the password, then it will be removed automatically. Password will be enabled after saving the document. And remember, this password has no recovery options as you can do in Gmail, Yahoo or Facebook! So be careful!

Removing/ Changing the Password

Sometimes you may set a password for testing purpose only. For example you set password in a document that doesn't need password at all. And every time you're required to type it when accessing that file. Or maybe you want to change it. But when you try to remove or change that password you can't find any option to remove it. How disgusting!  :)

Well this is easier than you think! If you wanna change the password then repeat the whole process again until the password box appears. Then type a different password and save the document.

And if you would like to remove the password then just leave that box blank and save the document. Password will be removed.

Hopefully this post will be helpful for you . . . :)
