Remember: Your Windows should be genuine or it may ask you to activate windows while doing this task. So, if you have any problem regarding activation then visit: Windows 8 Activation Process

How to Create Password Reset Disk?

For your computer security you can set start up password. Whenever you turn on PC, Windows ask you to enter password. Then you enter password and get access to the desktop. And all of us know that it is a normal process.

But, if your forget your password? Then what?

You might think experts can easily break it and have access to the PC! And as you're not expert so enter the DVD in the drive and start installing Windows again. And you lose all of your files and folders that is stored on installation drive.

But you can avoid such type of hazard very easily. I don't advise you to write down your pass in the diary or calender. Because this is not safe. Just spend few minutes to create a password reset disk. It's safe and easy. And there is no risk. Follow the steps below:
  1. First make sure you've connected your USB Flash Drive in the port. You don't need to format the disk. And your files will not be affected.
  2. Then go to the User Accounts from Control Panel.
  3. Now hit on the Create a password reset disk option from the left panel.
  4. You'll see Forgotten Password Wizard. Click Next.
  5. Select the drive that is to be used as reset disk. Click Next.
  6. Enter the current password if any. Otherwise leave it blank.
  7. Click next and wait for the processing. Click Next again. Then Finish.
The disk is ready for use. Now open your USB drive and look for a 2 KB file named userkey.psw. This is the file that can help you to reset the password. Don't delete it.

Now restart your PC and try to access by entering a wrong password. You'll see the Reset Password option. Click on it and type a new password. And from now you can use this password.

You can change your password as many time as you wish by the same disk.

Caution: Anyone can change your password if he knows about your reset disk. So make sure that unauthorized person is not familiar with your reset disk.

NB: This system has been tested on Windows 7 and 8. And it will work only on that PC from where the disk is created.

Fun Fact: You've to create this disk before forgetting password. After forgetting this password, you can't create this disk.

Today's world is based on online. Few years ago, only people with IT profession used to live with computer, internet and technology. But today, a very normal person has to depend on information technology. He has to create Email IDs, Online Accounts and he has to remember the passwords too!

For different reasons a person naturally needs to have more than one Email ID. And he may have many online accounts. And to remember the ID and password as well as type them again and again is a boring job. To ease the users' work every browser offers to save password and username.

To be honest, to save password is really helpful for users. But at the cost of security who wants to save his password?

How to Make a Strong Password?

Password has been integrated to our daily activities. The whole world is being operating through computers, networks and Internet. And lots of information are there. And we have to keep those information password protected.

But there are some people who may hijack your information for their own benefits. And if you use a password which is easy to guess or break, then you might be in trouble. So, it's important to build a strong password for your digital devices, web accounts or network access.

In this post, I would like to share some tips which may help you build strong passwords. Try to apply these tricks:

  1. Password Should be Long Enough: A long password is always stronger than a short one. Use at least 10 characters (or more) in your password.
  2. Make it Complex: To be strong, the password should be complex. Combine letters, symbols, numbers or special characters (!, @, #, %, &) in your password. And it should not be easy to guess.
  3. Use Space within Password: You can also use space in your password. Space is considered as a character.
  4. Avoid Dictionary Word: Different password hacking tools may guess your password if it's a dictionary word of any language. So, if you avoid dictionary (or use with special characters or numbers) word then it's safer.
  5. Use Different Password for Different Account: Maintaining separate password for each account is difficult. But in case of highly secured accounts, you must use unique password.

And also keep in mind the following:

  • Password should be strong and complex but easy to remember for you.
  • Avoid repeated and adjacent numbers or characters i.e. abcdef, 123456, 222222, ssssss etc.
  • Passwords are usually case sensitive. So, use both upper case and lower case in your password.
  • Avoid personal information like Birth Day, Driving License or Passport Number, Spouse's Name etc.
  • And please, never use your mobile/ telephone number as password.
  • Avoid writing your password somewhere. Try to keep it in mind.

How to Format a Virus Affected Flash/ Pen Drive?

Built in Security in Windows 8

Windows Defender Image PNG

If you're using Windows 8 then you don't need to purchase Anti Virus or Security Tool! Windows 8 has a built in antivirus program named Windows Defender. Windows defender was also included with windows vista and 7. But its functions were very limited. In windows 8, defender has been redesigned like Microsoft Security Essentials. The skin and interface of New Windows Defender is just like MSE. But maybe there are significant changes in case of performance.

Earlier Microsoft released free security software for PC users- Microsoft Security Essentials. But it was not default. To enhance the security of new Windows, defender has been included with it. Certainly you'll enjoy this.

Windows Defender Update Required

Features and Facilities:

  • 100% Free (No Option of Serial Key or Crack!)
  • No installation required- Built in
  • Fast, safe and reliable Scan
  • Real Time Protection
  • Never Slow Down PC
  • No Unnecessary Messages
  • Options to allow, remove, disinfect or quarantine the infected objects
  • Capability to Disinfect the infected files (If Possible)
  • Shows the detailed information of Infected Files
  • Simple interface with no unnecessary options
  • Run quite fine even you don't update (But never do this!)

Few Problems and Difficulties:
  • Windows 8 should be genuine. Otherwise you will have several problems. So, Activate your Windows
  • Virus cleaning process is somewhat slower
  • No option to pause the scan. You can just cancel it.
  • You can't scan the files just by right click on it!
  • Security Software Providers like Kaspersky, Bit Defender, Avast are very angry!
  • You can't clean the viruses before finishing the scan.

Operation Manual:

If you are experienced with MSE then Defender has nothing new for you. But if you have no experience with MSE then following instructions maybe useful for you:

  • Make sure Defender is turned on. Press Start and type Defender. Open it and go to the Settings tab. Click on Administrator and be sure that the option Turn on Windows Defender is marked.
  • You can't scan files just by right click. To scan a flash drive or any other folder you've to open defender from Start. Then Home > Scan Options > Custom Scan > Scan Now > Choose your Files, Folder or Pen Drive > OK.
  • After installing Windows 8 please run a full scan. Quick scan is not necessary because after installing Windows your PC is normally free from virus. Scan options are available under the Home Tab.
  • Auto Update is enabled. If you wanna update manually then go to the Update tab. Before hitting Update button, make sure you're connected to the net.
  • After finishing the scan, if virus is found you will see a message at the top- PC Status: At Risk. Then you've to hit on Clean Computer button.
  • You can manually select the action for each infected files. There will be options right to the infected files whether to remove, disinfect or allow them. If you're not sure about a file then leave it to the default action.

Case: Sometimes your friends may tell you- MSE or Defender can't detect few viruses like Avast, Kaspersky or Bit Defender! And you might be confused after hearing this. You may think the database of MSE or Defender is poor.

But keep in mind that MSE or Defender updates themselves twice a day. And they never detect unnecessary files unless it harms you. And they normally don't delete executable files. Rather they try to disinfect them.

Personal Opinion: As I've used MSE for 3 years and now using Defender near about 1.5 years with no problems regarding virus, you can trust me. Both MSE or Defender are fully reliable. If you can use any of them properly, within a month you will ask- What is VIRUS?

VIRUS- Vital Information Resources Under Seize.

Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE)

MSE Logo

Computer and computer virus are extremely involved. Maybe inactive but almost all computers have some viruses. If it is a Windows Platform PC then the possibility is triple. Because more than 80% PC runs on Windows OS. So hackers' first target is windows based PCs.

To guard viruses, there are many antivirus programs. Such as Kaspersky, Norton, Bit Defender, Avast, Avira and so many. But none of them is perfect. Some of them make your PC secured but slow down the performance. Some of them are over smart. They detect a normal file as virus. Sometimes there are numerous commands. Users get confused with this commands and options.

Besides every year you need to purchase a new license. And if you are a trial user, then you have some other jobs to do. Each and every month you need to download the program again. Then sometimes Antivirus denies to delete a virus if you are a trial user etc etc.

But if you use Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE), then you are free from all of these problems. This is the fastest, lightest, safest and more reliable Antivirus I've ever seen.

Features
  • Easy to use
  • Full Free*
  • Fast, safe and reliable
  • Real-time protection
  • System scanning
  • System cleaning
  • Windows Firewall integration
  • Dynamic signature service
  • Rootkit protection
  • Protection against real threats, not good software
  • Network inspection system
