If you're new to Firefox then I would like to share some basic tips that may enhance your experience with this browser. Before you begin make sure that you've got the latest version of Firefox i.e. Firefox Quantum 57.0.2.

Reader View

It's like Microsoft Edge's Reading Mode. If you're bored with the ads and graphics of a website, then you can enter into Reader view. This will remove ads and unnecessary graphics from web page and optimize it for better reading.

You will find the reader view button 📄 at URL bar. Remember that some websites may not support reader view. In that case you will not see the reader view button.

Screenshots

This new version of Firefox includes a nice screen capturing tool. Most of the available screenshot application can only capture the monitor view. But this one is capable of capturing a whole website. That means you can only capture and current view as well as the full webpage.

Screenshot Icon in Firefox Quantum Browser

Follow the above image. You will get the screenshot option by clicking the action button which is located in the URL bar.

Save your Favourite Article/ Video

This feature is called Pocket. If you need something to watch later, then you can save it in pocket. Later you can find it in your pocket list.

Pocket button is also available in URL bar. Don't forget to sign in to Firefox before using Pocket.

Library

Firefox Quantum provides library facility for the users.  This is really a great feature to get all of your stuffs in one place.

Books Icon

Your pocket saves, bookmarks, history, screenshots all will be available in library. You will get the library icon at the upper right corner of the browser.

Tracking Protection

Need privacy? Choose New Private Window from menu button or press Ctrl+Shift+P for private browsing. This will take you to the private mode which is tracking protected. When you're in this mode your history, cookies, temporary files and search queries will not be saved.

Tracking Protection in Firefox Quantum Private Browsing

Online trackers will be blocked by Firefox so that your information can't be leaked.

I think Firefox lovers are already appreciating its team for this great work. And hopefully chrome lovers will also think about Quantum . . .

Live Traffic on Google Maps now Available in Bangladesh

Google Maps shows live traffic status

Google Maps is a great application for the commuters. Google frequently brings changes to make this app more useful for the users. Recently Google started live traffic features in Bangladesh which is already available in many countries.

Now we can enjoy the traffic status of the desired areas. This service has been started two weeks ago on November 10, 2017.

Before you can continue, make sure -

  • You're using the latest version of Google Maps
  • Your Phone's Location Service (GPS)  - is turned on
  • Traffic Option is Turned on in your Google Maps App

How to Enable Live Traffic on Google Maps

Tap on the icon as shown in the above image. Now follow the next image.

How to Enable Live Traffic on Google Maps

You can keep the Map Type as default. Choose the traffic option on Map Details.

Google Maps Traffic Predictions

After turning on this service, you will be able to see the live traffic status in your area. This will show the traffic status of your route as well as the traffic status of the whole city.

Understanding the Signals -
  • Green - No Traffic Delays
  • Orange - Medium amount of traffic/ Busy Road/ Slower Movement
  • Red - Traffic delays. The darker the red, the slower the traffic movement
  • Darker Red - Heavy Traffic/ Almost no movement

Traffic Incident Symbols -

Traffic incidents include these types of delays:

  • Crashes
  • Construction
  • Road closures
  • Other incidents

If you notice any of these icons on your route, simply tap on it to see details about what happened.

How does Google shows/ predicts traffic?

Well this question may knock you again and again if you're not aware about GPS technology. Almost every smartphone includes GPS sensors. And modern vehicles also include GPS.

When you move from one place to another with your vehicle or smartphone, it sends signals to the server. Google collects and analyzes your movement data. And remember that you're not the only person moving with GPS. There might be thousands who are also having a car or GPS enabled devices.

Google gathers data from all of you and then determine whether the road is busy or free.

Besides in developed countries, they have traffic sensors installed by the roadside in many cities. These traffic sensors can provide more accurate data about live traffic.

How Accurate the Google Maps is?

Well it depends. The accuracy may vary depending on -
  • How many vehicles have GPS
  • How many smartphone users are using Google Maps
  • How many users keep their location service turned on
  • Whether people are really in traffic jam or passing free time somewhere

But my last opinion about Live Traffic is -

I depend on Google Maps Live Traffic - You can also rely on it . . .

Monetize your Bengali Site with AdSense!

Monetize your Bengali Contents with Google AdSense

Dear Bangladeshis! If you have an Account with Google AdSense then probably you got a message last month - AdSense now understands Bengali that means you can publish AdSense Ads on your Bengali blog or website and start earning. It's really a great news for webmasters who publishes contents in Bengali . . .

It's been more than a decade since AdSense started their Journey. Google AdSense is a worldwide advertising platform that supports both the publishers and the advertisers. Depending on the market trend AdSense is stretching its range. Inclusion of new languages, Ad formats and Sizes is a part of routine development of AdSense.

Now the publishers 0f 41 languages can monetize their contents using Google AdSense.

Who are the Actual Gainer?

I think the publishers of my country (Bangladesh) are the actual gainers. There are more than 150 million people whose primary language is Bengali. And there are more than thousand publishers who generates Bengali contents.

Besides Bengali is one of the prime languages in some parts of India i.e. West Bengal, Tripura, Assam, Jharkhand etc. Around 10% of Indian people talk Bengali. So the publishers of these areas will also be benefited by the inclusion of new language in AdSense.

And I feel really unlucky that I've no Bengali site yet! Cause when I started blogging AdSense didn't understand Bengali that time.

The Challenge of Bengali Publishers

It's true that a large number of world population talk in Bengali. But it's not an International language and it's not well known worldwide. So catching visitors worldwide for Bengali contents is not that easy.

But luckily there are millions of immigrants in different countries whose primary language is Bengali. So the publishers will get some International traffic for their contents.

So the publishers it's time to leave. Wish you all for a better luck with mother tongue . . .

Smart reply can save your valuable time

Well that's another cool feature from Google. And I think it's almost magical. It's a great sign of artificial intelligence! Starting from May 2017, hopefully this option will get huge popularity and will do much better in the coming days . . .

What is Smart Reply Actually?

When you use your Gmail App on Android or iOS operating system you may see some automatic reply options at the bottom of an email. Look at the examples below:

What for?

Think about a situation. You're going somewhere and you're in a hurry. You've a bag in one hand and that time you got a message from one of your friends. Maybe the message is not very crucial but you've to answer something.

In these situations Smart Reply is really helpful to save your time and effort. You can simply open the message and tap on any of the suggested replies.

Example 1

3 Replies below the Message

When you open a message you will see three automatic reply suggestions. If you tap on any of them, then the tapped text will be prepared as your reply. If you are in a hurry or if you don't need to add anything else you can hit the send button.

Example 2

Smart Replies Samples

Look at this message. This message could be replied by simple Yes/No answer. But smart reply is offering much better answer to this message.

Example 3

Smartly Reply to Email Message

Look at the third one. Some messages are really tough to answer smartly. But still Smart Reply tries to ease your task.

If someone ask for your new contact number then how do Google know it? Though Google can find existing contact numbers from your profile but they left the answer on you.

Smart Reply is Automatically Enabled

Just from the beginning, smart reply is enabled in your Gmail app by default. Still if you don't get this option or if you would like to turn this feature off, then you can follow the steps below:

New Logo for Google!!

Google Introduced New Logo & Favicon

You should notice that Google is showing a new doddle in its homepage since yesterday. Have you played this yet? It's nothing but the new logo of the search giant! Last night I had just visited Google's home and discovered this!

It's not the first time, Google changed its logos and icons. We've noticed such changes before. But this time, it's really fascinating. Google has just used its doddle feature to introduce the new logo.

This is the change # 7. Let's look back -
  1. First logo introduced in 1998
  2. First one modified in August 1998.
  3. Same logo modified again in September 1998.
  4. In May 1999, Google introduced a more sophisticated look!
  5. After a long break, it was changed again in May 2010.
  6. And the logo we used to see the day before yesterday was introduced in September 2013.
  7. And the latest logo has been introduced on September 01, 2015.

To see the detailed history, go to Google and search - Google Logo History.

There are basically 3 changes . . .
  • New Logo
  • New Favicon
  • New Voice Search Icon

Google Plus Button icon has also been changed!

New Favicon for Google

This is the new Favicon of Google which will appear as tab icon when you visit Google.

Google Microphone Icon

And this will be the voice search icon which will appear in the search box. It was fully black before.

Tech people have showed mixed reactions to these changes. Some people are excited by these changes, some are thinking it as unnecessary. But I think changing things is not a bad idea! If you regularly update your products and services, people will realize you're active - you're with them! That's what Google has done!!

Have a look at the GIF image below!

Google New Logo Animation

I'm happy due to this change. At least I got a chance to share something with you! J

No More New Windows in the Future !!

Windows 10 is the Last Version of Windows

Believe it or not, you're gonna face this unbelievable fact. With the reference of Jerry Nixon, a Microsoft employee, BBC has published a report on May 08, 2015 with the heading - Microsoft to stop producing Windows versions. Most of the Windows lovers around the world were shocked after hearing such a news.

Popular Versions of Windows

Started from November 20, 1985, Microsoft has released more than 20 versions of Windows. But how many could you name if you're asked to make a list? I guess not more than 6 or 7.

The most popular operating systems released by Microsoft are -

  • Windows 95
  • Windows 98
  • Windows XP
  • Windows 7

Many users haven't even touch Windows Vista due to its security bugs and heavy system requirements. After XP, Windows 7 was the most successful one. Windows 8 and 8.1 are still struggling in the market.

Personally, I like Windows 8 most. But there are some major changes in Windows 8 interface which make the users uncomfortable. Microsoft has upgraded Windows 8 to 8.1 to resolve some issues. But both of them are almost same.

When everyone was expecting Windows 9 to be introduced, Microsoft released Windows 10 Technical Preview.

Windows 10 - The Last Version of Windows OS

IT Experts are talking a lot about this news. Though Microsoft hasn't declared anything officially, but it is planning to do so. Microsoft is planning to deliver Windows as a service. And time to time, it will bring innovations and updates for the users.

People are now getting familiar with Windows 8 or 8.1 interface. At this point, again Windows 10 has come with old Start Menu. It has also introduced a mini start screen which looks really odd. Though you can get your Windows 8 Start Screen back.

I don't like some default settings of Windows 10. I've already used the Technical Preview version and now waiting for the Final Version. To be honest, Windows 10 Technical Preview has disappointed me! I think, Windows 8 is smarter than Windows 10.

Windows as a Single Platform

Probably, there will be no naming system like XP, Vista, 7, 8 or 10. Users will simply run an operating system - Windows.

Earlier, Microsoft used to release new version of Windows at a regular interval. To develop a new version, it had to spend a huge amount of money. And the company spent a huge amount of money for the marketing purpose.

Besides, Windows Support has to maintain different support system for different versions of Windows. If there is only one OS, it will be easier for them to concentrate and provide better service to the users.

Microsoft is now working to finalize the Windows 10. Hopefully, we're getting this last version of Windows at the end of this year . . .
