How does Google shows/ predicts traffic?
Well this question may knock you again and again if you're not aware about GPS technology. Almost every smartphone includes GPS sensors. And modern vehicles also include GPS.
When you move from one place to another with your vehicle or smartphone, it sends signals to the server. Google collects and analyzes your movement data. And remember that you're not the only person moving with GPS. There might be thousands who are also having a car or GPS enabled devices.
Google gathers data from all of you and then determine whether the road is busy or free.
Besides in developed countries, they have traffic sensors installed by the roadside in many cities. These traffic sensors can provide more accurate data about live traffic.
How Accurate the Google Maps is?
Well it depends. The accuracy may vary depending on -
- How many vehicles have GPS
- How many smartphone users are using Google Maps
- How many users keep their location service turned on
- Whether people are really in traffic jam or passing free time somewhere
But my last opinion about Live Traffic is -
I depend on Google Maps Live Traffic - You can also rely on it . . .
