How to Enable Developer Options on Android Phone?

Settings Logo PNG

As the name indicates, developer options allows you to perform many tasks which can't be done in normal mode. This feature is included with most of the Android phones and tablets. But it's been hidden so that normal users can't access to this special feature. Cause any wrong use of this option may lead to device malfunction!

Well I'm not gonna talk about the details of this feature. Here I will just show you how to activate this option.

Enabling the Developer Options

Your first task is to find out the Build Number of your phone. It's located in almost same place. But depending on the Brand and Android Version of your phone finding this option may not be same in all cases. It may take following paths -

  • Go to Settings > About Device/ About Phone > Software info > Build Number
  • Or, Settings > About Phone/ About Device > Build Number
  • Or, Settings > About > Software Information > More > Build Number

Build Number in Samsung Galaxy

After discovering the Build Number, tap 7  times over this option. And then you will see a message like - Now you're a developer/ Developer options has been enabled or something like this. Once enabled, you will find this option from Settings.

Android Developer Options

Disabling the Feature

Developer Options On/ Off

If you don't use it, then you can keep this option turned off. But if you need to remove this feature completely then follow the steps below:

  • Go to the Settings > Applications > Settings > Storage
  • Now tap on Clear data > Press Delete to confirm. That's it.

Clearing Settings Data

Warning
  • Developer options are for expert use only.
  • Any wrong use may deteriorate device performance as well as lifespan.

Disclaimer

Developer options must be handled with care. I just showed you the way to activate this feature. And I've also warned you not to misuse it. So, Marks PC Solution is not responsible by any means if you face any trouble after enabling this feature! So use it with your own risk. Thank you.

3 Transparent Fidget Spinners

Maybe invented years ago but the product has caught our attention very recently - this year. It's claimed that fidget spinners are helpful to calm people down who are suffering from anxiety and neurological disorders. These devices are also used for the treatment of Autism and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) even though it's not scientifically recognized.

About the Device

Fidget spinner is a very simple device. It's basically a toy made for little kids. Though invented more than two decades ago, it's been popular in this year - April 2017. The funny thing is that the extreme popularity of this device has led some educational institutions to ban it during the classes.

Red Transparent Fidget Spinner PNG

A good quality fidget spinner may spin up to few minutes! When spinning it may take different forms and that attracts the kids.

How to Convert Excel Contacts into vCard (.vcf)?

Convert .xls file to .vcf

Exporting and Importing Contacts of your Smartphone is not a big deal. You can easily do this from the Settings option of your Contact App. But you will get it really challenging when you've to convert a simple excel file into vCard (.vcf) format and import them as your phone contacts.

If you don't have any third party tool or if you don't know the tricks then you may require few hours to save contacts on your smartphone one by one.

Just few hours ago I faced the same challenge and hopefully you will be glad to know that I've done the job! Of course it costs me nearly 2 hours to discover the trick. But you don't need to wait that long. If you face the same need, you can do this within few minutes. Let's see how . . .

Convert Excel Contacts into vCard Format | 3 Steps
  1. Convert the Excel file (.xls/ .xlsx) into CSV (.csv)
  2. Import the CSV file using Contacts - It's a default Windows Application in the previous versions of Windows. But in Windows 10, Contacts is considered as a folder.
  3. Export the contacts as vCards (.vcf) using Contacts.

Convert the Excel file into CSV - Step 1
  • Open the Excel file where your contacts are stored that you wanna convert.
  • Now Save the file as - CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv)

Save file as csv

  • Now you will get a message like this.

CSV Saving Warning Message

  • Simply hit the yes button and step 1 is done!

Import CSV File using Contacts | Step 2
  • Press the Start button and type Contacts. Choose the Contacts app from the search result as shown in the image below.

Windows OS Contacts Application

  • Now you will see the Contacts folder in the screen. Hit on the Import button as shown in the image below

  • Choose CSV format as shown below and hit on the Import button.

Import CSV file to Windows Contacts

Choose files to import

  • Hit on the browse button, locate your CSV file and select it.

Importing CSV to Windows Contact

  • After selecting, hit on the Next button.

Import CSV to Windows

CSV Import Mapping

  • Now you've to mark the fields which you wanna include. Choose the field type as shown in the image below.

Change Field Type while importing

  • After mapping the fields properly, hit on the finish button. And Close the dialogue box.

Fields to import

After pressing the Finish button, all of your contacts will be stored in your Contacts folder. To see these contacts, again press Start button > Type Contacts and then you will see the Contacts window as shown in the following image -

Windows Contacts sample

Here you can see that all contacts are stored with .contact extension. This format is quite useful for your Windows PC. But if you wanna get these contacts on your Smartphone, then they should be converted into vCard format. I mean Step 3 is unlocked. We've to get there now . . .

Export the Contacts as VCF  | Step 3

Make sure you're in Contacts folder or Press Start > Type Contacts > Go to the Export option >

Windows Contacts export option

  • Now choose vCards option and hit on the Export button.

Export contacts as VCF

  • You must choose a separate folder for exporting. Or you can choose your Contacts folder. Never choose desktop cause your desktop will be full with these contacts files.

Choosing a location to export

  • Press OK after choosing the export folder.

Converting contacts to vCards

  • Within few moments your contacts will be exported and you will see the following message.

Exporting process finished

Contacts with contact and vcf extension

That's it. Now you can see both type of contacts side by side. If you need to import these contacts on your Smartphone, then simply select the .vcf files and copy them in a separate folder. Then copy this folder to your phone memory or SD card.
  • Then go to your Phone Contact application
  • Find the Import option from Settings
  • Choose your Import location i.e. Phone Memory or SD Card
Finish!

Hope this will be of great use if you are in trouble to copy your excel contacts to your Phone.

Smartphone Charging Tips . . .

Wireless Charging Pad

Hello Android guys! Today I'm gonna share smartphone charging tips with you. With expert opinion I've blended my own experience and views. After applying these tips you can share me your opinion. I will be waiting for feedback.

The following tips are applicable for -

  • Phones that are operated by Android OS
  • Phones that are powered by Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries

Smartphone Charging Tips . . .

  • Before you Charge: Before you plug in your device to the charger, close all the unnecessary applications. Also turn off the Mobile Data, Wi-Fi, Location Services, Bluetooth etc if these are not necessary to be turned on.

  • Placement: Keep your phone over a hard surface while charging. Don't keep it over soft things i.e. your bed. You can also keep back site up so that it can release the heat. Or you can put something below your phone to detach it from the surface. Surely it will keep your device cool and help charge faster.

  • Connection: Sometimes your charging cable may not be plugged in properly to the adapter. In that case your phone might be charging slowly. But don't do that ever. Make sure that the adapter is properly inserted to the socket and your charging cable is properly inserted to the adapter and to the phone. If you live in a heavy lightning area then avoid charging your phone during the thunderstorm.

    • Charger: Only use the charger that comes with your device. If not possible, then use a charger from recommended category. Avoid using high capacity charger with a low capacity phone. i.e. Your phone manufacturer proved a charger with output capacity of 1.0 A. In that case you shouldn't use a charger with output capacity 2.0 A. Using the wrong charger may affect battery life.

    • Charging Range: Never empty your battery. Try to recharge before it goes below 20%. Some people say that not to charge 100% always. But I don't see any problem. You can fully charge your phone. Once your battery is full your device will automatically stop taking charge. But you can unplug the charger after full charge to avoid any accident. Recharge your phone even when not in use. Keeping it chargeless may hamper battery life.

    • Using Phone during Charge: It's good not to use your phone while charging. Specially you should avoid using Internet when charging your device. Cause it will produce too much heat that may slow down the charging process. Some people have bitter experience when charging and using Facebook at the same time. So, if you badly need to use your device while charging, make sure its temperature is not as hot as it may burst!

So guys, I would like to say something at the end. Don't be so serious! Smartphones are not for using years after years. Cause whatever the configuration is, it's bound to be obsolete within 2 years at most.

    Disclaimer!

The above tips are shared with you based on experts' opinion and my personal experience. I've tried to provide the best tips regarding your phone and battery life. Again I would like to inform you that, Marks PC Solution is not responsible if these tips cause -
    • Any damage to your phone
    • Any damage to your charger
    • Any damage to your phone battery
    • Any kind of loss i.e. financial or something else
