Live Traffic on Google Maps now Available in Bangladesh

Google Maps shows live traffic status

Google Maps is a great application for the commuters. Google frequently brings changes to make this app more useful for the users. Recently Google started live traffic features in Bangladesh which is already available in many countries.

Now we can enjoy the traffic status of the desired areas. This service has been started two weeks ago on November 10, 2017.

Before you can continue, make sure -

  • You're using the latest version of Google Maps
  • Your Phone's Location Service (GPS)  - is turned on
  • Traffic Option is Turned on in your Google Maps App

How to Enable Live Traffic on Google Maps

Tap on the icon as shown in the above image. Now follow the next image.

How to Enable Live Traffic on Google Maps

You can keep the Map Type as default. Choose the traffic option on Map Details.

Google Maps Traffic Predictions

After turning on this service, you will be able to see the live traffic status in your area. This will show the traffic status of your route as well as the traffic status of the whole city.

Understanding the Signals -
  • Green - No Traffic Delays
  • Orange - Medium amount of traffic/ Busy Road/ Slower Movement
  • Red - Traffic delays. The darker the red, the slower the traffic movement
  • Darker Red - Heavy Traffic/ Almost no movement

Traffic Incident Symbols -

Traffic incidents include these types of delays:

  • Crashes
  • Construction
  • Road closures
  • Other incidents

If you notice any of these icons on your route, simply tap on it to see details about what happened.

How does Google shows/ predicts traffic?

Well this question may knock you again and again if you're not aware about GPS technology. Almost every smartphone includes GPS sensors. And modern vehicles also include GPS.

When you move from one place to another with your vehicle or smartphone, it sends signals to the server. Google collects and analyzes your movement data. And remember that you're not the only person moving with GPS. There might be thousands who are also having a car or GPS enabled devices.

Google gathers data from all of you and then determine whether the road is busy or free.

Besides in developed countries, they have traffic sensors installed by the roadside in many cities. These traffic sensors can provide more accurate data about live traffic.

How Accurate the Google Maps is?

Well it depends. The accuracy may vary depending on -
  • How many vehicles have GPS
  • How many smartphone users are using Google Maps
  • How many users keep their location service turned on
  • Whether people are really in traffic jam or passing free time somewhere

But my last opinion about Live Traffic is -

I depend on Google Maps Live Traffic - You can also rely on it . . .

Have you Tried Smart Reply in Gmail?

Smart reply can save your valuable time

Well that's another cool feature from Google. And I think it's almost magical. It's a great sign of artificial intelligence! Starting from May 2017, hopefully this option will get huge popularity and will do much better in the coming days . . .

What is Smart Reply Actually?

When you use your Gmail App on Android or iOS operating system you may see some automatic reply options at the bottom of an email. Look at the examples below:

What for?

Think about a situation. You're going somewhere and you're in a hurry. You've a bag in one hand and that time you got a message from one of your friends. Maybe the message is not very crucial but you've to answer something.

In these situations Smart Reply is really helpful to save your time and effort. You can simply open the message and tap on any of the suggested replies.

Example 1

3 Replies below the Message

When you open a message you will see three automatic reply suggestions. If you tap on any of them, then the tapped text will be prepared as your reply. If you are in a hurry or if you don't need to add anything else you can hit the send button.

Example 2

Smart Replies Samples

Look at this message. This message could be replied by simple Yes/No answer. But smart reply is offering much better answer to this message.

Example 3

Smartly Reply to Email Message

Look at the third one. Some messages are really tough to answer smartly. But still Smart Reply tries to ease your task.

If someone ask for your new contact number then how do Google know it? Though Google can find existing contact numbers from your profile but they left the answer on you.

Smart Reply is Automatically Enabled

Just from the beginning, smart reply is enabled in your Gmail app by default. Still if you don't get this option or if you would like to turn this feature off, then you can follow the steps below:

  1. Open Gmail app in your Smartphone. (Make sure you're signed in)
  2. Tab on the Menu button () from upper left corner.
  3. Scroll down and choose Settings.
  4. Now choose your email address.
  5. Get the Smart Reply option as shown in the image below -

Turn Smart Reply option on or off

From here you can turn this feature on or off.

Some Facts about Smart Reply

  • Not every message will include smart replies.
  • Primarily it's only available for English language.
  • It's available for Gmail App, Inbox and Allo messaging app.
  • Smart reply works with Android and iOS operating systems.
  • Smart replies may not be accurate every time.

AdSense Terms & Abbreviations . . .

Common AdSense Terms & Abbreviations

Google uses some terms and abbreviations in their AdSense dashboard. If you're a webmaster and if you're working with AdSense then you should know those terms clearly. If you understand what do these mean, then you will realize what to do to boost your revenue. So guys, let's read the following sentences . . .

The most confusing terms of AdSense belong to the performance overview section. And I'm gonna make it clear for you . . .

AdSense Overview on Android Phone

ESTIMATED EARNINGS  |  Subject to change

This is the estimated earnings for a particular period (Maybe one day or one week or as per your selection in the period section) and it can be changed automatically. Though it doesn't change much. In most of the cases estimated earnings remain same even when it's finalized. But sometimes you may experience change only by few cents.

PAGE VIEWS  |  The views of your site's pages by visitors

The number of time a user views your page displaying AdSense Ads. AdSense will count only one view even if there are multiple ads.

IMPRESSIONS  |  The number of Ads displayed

An impression is counted for each ad requested that returns at least one ad to the website. For example - your site contains 3 ads. If your site is viewed for 10 times and all the ads are displayed properly, then your impression will be 30.

CLICKS  |  The number of times that a user clicked on your ads

There is nothing more to write about. But I would like to suggest you to be aware of few things:

  • Never click the ads of your own site even not to test
  • Never encourage someone to click on your ads

CTR  |  Click Through Rate
  • Page CTR : The number of ads clicked divided by the number of page views.
  • Impression CTR : The number of ads clicked divided by the number of ad impressions.

CPC  |  Cost per Click

The amount that an advertiser pays for each click. You can calculate it as - Estimated Earnings divided by the number of clicks made by the visitors.

RPM  |  Revenue per Thousand Impressions
  • Page RPM: The average earnings per thousand page views. Mathematically you can say, Page RPM = (Estimated Earnings/ Number of Page Views) * 1000.
  • Impression RPM: The average earnings per thousand impressions. Or you can say, Impression RPM = (Estimated Earnings / Impressions) * 1000.

I've modified the explanations little bit. If you would like to read the terms directly as Google says, then read this help page and scroll down to the Performance section . . .

Never Give Up . . .

Never ever give up

Started writing in 2012 and this is the 500th post of Marks PC Solution. In this landmark, I wish to share my feelings/ experiences with you. I also would like to inspire you. I don't know how to start and where to end. But I will try to motivate you for sure. Let's go . . .

Before you read this post, you may also have a look at this -

Okay we can move forward. I would like to start with an image -

Never Give Up Illustration by Frog & Egret

What do you see? A frog is getting down through the neck of an egret. But the frog doesn't give up. It wants to survive even at the end. It catches the neck of egret by hands.

This picture looks very funny. And really it is. But you must understand the actual meaning of this picture.

It teaches us how to survive. Whatever happens to you, never give up. I'm not only talking to webmasters. With all of my readers I would like to share the same message. Don't give up your hope under any circumstance.

Be honest in your side and do your work properly. Believe yourself and someday you will succeed. I consider myself as a successful webmaster. Though I'm engaged with an organization, I would like to express myself as a webmaster!

List of Barriers in my Blogging Career

  • Lack of sufficient time
  • Slow and limited net connection
  • Job
  • Transfer from home city to another (02 Times)
  • Plagiarists (Marks PC is a source of copying contents!)
  • Personal & Family Problems
  • Lack of physical & mental energy
  • Lack of writing scope
  • Refusal of Ad Proposal by AdSense (About 05 times)
  • Less revenue than expectation
  • Lack of motivation (Poor Ranking, Few Visitors etc.)
  • Blah blah blah . . .

Still I face these problems. But I never give up. Sometimes I feel bore. I get disappointed. And this is very natural. But later I start with more enthusiasm.

And this is how you can recover -
  • Stop working for some days
  • Reset your mind
  • Go for travelling
  • Watch nature, flowers and trees

And then get back in life. Get back to your work. Don't expect the best result always. Bad things happen. You just do your work honestly. Don't think about result too much. Just keep in mind that, someday you will get the reward.

But remember one thing. Never stick to something which is absolutely impossible. In that case it will be a loss project. What is not yours just leave it. But which you need to achieve, don't compromise it.

Never give up example under the mountain

Test your Site on Safe Browsing Site Status

Google Safe Browsing Report

Couple of days ago, I noticed a sudden fall in my site's traffic. It was not clear why Marks PC is experiencing a decreasing traffic. Later I discovered a harmful content in my site. That's why Google Chrome was stopping visitors to enter my site. Then I fixed the issue with the  help of Google Safe Browsing and Webmaster Tools. In this post, I'm gonna share my experience with you . . .

Warning Message from Google Chrome

About Safe Browsing Site Status

Safe browsing site status is a part of Google Transparency Report. Everyday it collects and examines billions of URLs to find out harmful contents on those websites. If a site is safe to surf then it's okay.

But if harmful contents are found, Google enlists the sites in blacklist. And Chrome browser shows warnings to the visitors.

Check your Site

You can check any site on Safe Browsing Site Status. It maybe your own site or any other site you visit often. So, what are you waiting for? Let's check a site on Google Safe Browsing Site Status . . .

Follow the URL below -

Then you will get following view -

Google Safe Browsing Report

Here you can see a search box named Status of. In this box, you will enter the link of your desired website. As soon as you hit the search button, you will see the current status. If the site is okay, you will see - Not Dangerous

If any malicious contents are found, you will see the status like dangerous or harmful

Taking Actions

If you're a site owner and find your site dangerous, don't delay a second. Immediately go to the Google Webmaster and sign in there. There you will get a message for critical issues.

Sometimes you may know what is the problem exactly. Then fix it and inform the Google Webmaster that necessary actions have been made. Then you will request a review for your site.

If you're not sure about the problem, then talk to the experts. Or sometimes this problem might be caused by harmful ads shown on your site. In that case, you need to talk to the Advertisers.

And never avoid this issue. If you avoid it, then your traffic will fall dramatically. And you will lose revenues.

After taking corrective actions, Google will review your site. Within few hours (not more than 48 hours) Google will update your security status.
